The #ENDSARS protests across the nation have been hijacked and misdirected, President Muhammadu Buhari has declared, in a nationwide speech on Thursday night, he warned those who have hijacked the protests, saying government would not tolerate violence of any form.

He said: “I must warn those who have hijacked and misdirected the initial, genuine and well – intended protest of some of our youths in parts of the country, against the excesses of some members of the now disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).“The choice to protests peacefully is a fundamental right of citizens as enshrined in Section 40 of our Constitution and other enactments; but this right to protest also imposes on the demonstrators the responsibility to respect the rights of other citizens, and the necessity to operate within the law.

#EndSARS: Babajide Sanwo-Olu Calls for Healing, Reconciliation as Violence Slows Down In Lagos State.

After the destruction of private and public assets across Lagos State following the shooting of unarmed protesters at the Lekki tollgate on Tuesday,Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has appealed to the restive youths to end the carnage to allow for healing and reconciliation, despitethe governor’s appeal, hoodlums yesterday continued to unleash mayhem in parts of the state, an experience shared by the Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Delta and Oyo States as well as Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

To stop the spread of violence in their states, Governors Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State and Willie Obiano of Anambra State declared a curfew.

#EndSARS: Ayodele Fayose Speaks On President Muhammadu Buhari Speech.

A former Ekiti State governor, Peter Ayodele Fayose, has spoken on President Muhammadu Buhari’s nationwide address over the End SARS protest, Fayose described Buhari’s speech as ‘lifeless,’ adding that the President has never disappointed him, recallsthat Buhari spoke on the End SARS protests, violence and government’s actions.

He also warned hoodlums who have hijacked the peaceful protest to desist, reacting Fayose, in a tweet via his Twitter handle wrote: “Speechless speech. I warned Nigerians.

#EndSARS: President Buhari In Silence Over Lekki Tollgate Shootings, Urges End to Protests In The Nation.

President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday finally spoke on angry youths’ protest of police brutality, urging them to end the protests, which went violent after Tuesday’s shooting by the army at Lekki Tollgate, Lagos, the president was silent on the tollgate shooting incident that brought his government worldwide condemnation.

He had come under severe criticism for his silence on the #EndSARS protests, which had raged for 14 days, spreading from Lagos State to over a dozen others with attendant disruption of essential economic activities.
